Helping and supporting others has always been my calling. I believe that every individual has a unique story, and whether sharing it comes easily or feels challenging, we all deserve a safe, non-judgmental space to express ourselves and be heard.
I’m Christina Cerroni, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (CA LCSW #121372), and I specialize in guiding women through the emotional complexities of anxiety, depression, trauma, and perinatal mental health. As a mother who has faced both perinatal challenges, as well as thyroid cancer, I understand how overwhelming life transitions can be. My personal experiences have deeply shaped my approach to therapy, and this understanding drives my commitment to supporting women—during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
I have earned a Certificate of Completion in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Postpartum Support International, which has strengthened my ability to support individuals navigating these unique and often isolating struggles.
In addition to my focus on women’s mental health, I have over a decade of experience working with individuals and families from all walks of life, including children, adolescents, and adults managing anxiety, depression, and trauma; families navigating complex life challenges; individuals with developmental disabilities and children on the autism spectrum; survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking; and foster youth and foster families. I have provided services in community clinics, schools, foster care programs, and social service agencies—experiences that have deepened my understanding of resilience, healing, and recovery.
My therapeutic approach is informed by evidence-based practices that are tailored to each individual’s needs. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage difficult emotions and develop healthy coping strategies. For those processing trauma, I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), trauma-informed therapy, and psychodynamic therapy to help address the root causes of emotional pain and create lasting change.
I believe in the power of collaboration and create a compassionate space where we can work together to uncover your inner strength and resilience. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or the complexities of motherhood, my goal is to help you heal and move forward with confidence and clarity.
Taking the first step toward therapy can be challenging, but I’m here to walk with you every step of the way, offering guidance rooted in both professional expertise and lived experience. My mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you can begin your journey of healing and self-discovery.
"Healing is not an overnight process. It is a journey, but every step you take brings you closer to the person you're meant to become."
The name Materna Butterfly Therapy holds deep personal and professional significance. The butterfly represents transformation, resilience, and growth—qualities that are central to the work I do with clients. Just as a butterfly undergoes a profound metamorphosis, the process of therapy is about emerging stronger and more whole after facing life's challenges. It is a symbol of the healing journey that leads to new beginnings.
The word "Materna" speaks to my commitment to supporting women, particularly those navigating the complexities of perinatal mental health, trauma, anxiety, and depression. It reflects the maternal journey of healing and self-discovery, offering a therapeutic space that is nurturing, empowering, and restorative.
Together, Materna Butterfly Therapy represents a place where women can find the support, healing, and growth they need to move forward in their lives. It’s a space where transformation happens, not just through professional expertise but through a personal commitment to your well-being. Whether you’re experiencing the challenges of pregnancy and motherhood, processing trauma, or working to overcome anxiety and depression, I am here to walk alongside you on your path to wholeness.
Reaching out for help takes incredible courage. It’s the first step toward healing and growth, and I am honored to be part of that journey with you. Together, we can navigate the challenges and embrace the transformations ahead.
When I’m not working, you can find me enjoying a few of my favorite things:
Thrill-seeking at theme parks (I love a good roller coaster!).
Snuggling up with my dog Elena.
Binge-watching shows and animation films—I’m a sucker for great storytelling.
Spending quality time with my family, whether we’re exploring new places or just relaxing at home.
I'm also a second-generation Filipino-American.
