Helping and supporting others has always been my calling. I believe that every individual has a unique story, and whether sharing it comes easily or feels challenging, we all deserve a safe, non-judgmental space to express ourselves and be heard.
I’m Christina Cerroni, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (CA LCSW #121372), and I specialize in guiding women through the emotional complexities of anxiety, depression, trauma, and perinatal mental health. As a mother who has faced both perinatal challenges, as well as thyroid cancer, I understand how overwhelming life transitions can be. My personal experiences have deeply shaped my approach to therapy and inspired my commitment to support women during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
I have earned a Certificate of Completion in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Postpartum Support International, which has strengthened my ability to support individuals navigating these unique and often isolating struggles.
Over the past decade, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and families from many different walks of life—in community clinics, schools, foster care programs, and social service agencies. Early in my career, I supported children on the autism spectrum and individuals with developmental disabilities through behavior-based and family-centered care, which taught me patience, flexibility, and the importance of meeting each person where they are. Drawing on evidence-based approaches, including my training in the Triple P (Positive Parenting Program), I help parents build confidence, connection, and effective strategies for nurturing their children. I’ve also worked with foster youth and families, as well as survivors of trauma, domestic violence, and human trafficking. These experiences have deepened my understanding of resilience, healing, and the power of safe, supportive relationships—insights that continue to shape the way I practice today.
My therapeutic approach is informed by evidence-based practices that are tailored to each individual’s needs. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients manage difficult emotions and develop healthy coping strategies. For processing trauma, I integrate EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), trauma-informed therapy, and psychodynamic therapy to help address the root causes of emotional pain and create lasting change.
I believe in the power of collaboration and create a compassionate space where we can work together to uncover your inner strength and resilience. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or the complexities of motherhood, my goal is to help you heal and move forward with confidence and clarity.
Taking the first step toward therapy can be challenging, but I’m here to walk with you every step of the way, offering guidance rooted in both professional expertise and lived experience. My mission is to provide a safe, supportive environment where you can begin your journey of healing and self-discovery.
"Healing is not an overnight process. It is a journey, but every step you take brings you closer to the person you're meant to become."
The name Materna Butterfly Therapy carries deep personal and professional meaning. The butterfly symbolizes transformation, resilience, and growth, mirroring the therapeutic journey. Just as a butterfly undergoes metamorphosis, therapy is a process of emerging stronger and more whole after facing life’s challenges—a journey toward healing and new beginnings.
The word "Materna" reflects my dedication to supporting women, particularly those navigating perinatal mental health, trauma, anxiety, and depression. It speaks to the maternal experience—the complex yet deeply personal path of healing and self-discovery. My goal is to provide a therapeutic space that is nurturing, empowering, and restorative, where women feel heard, supported, and encouraged to embrace their inner strength.
Together, Materna Butterfly Therapy represents a sanctuary for healing, growth, and transformation. More than a practice, it is a place where you will find compassionate support—not just through professional expertise, but through a genuine commitment to your well-being. Whether you are navigating the challenges of pregnancy and motherhood, processing trauma, or working to overcome anxiety and depression, I am here to walk alongside you on your path to wholeness.
Reaching out for support takes incredible courage—it is the first step toward healing. I am honored to be part of that journey with you. Together, we can embrace transformation and move toward a brighter, more empowered future.
When I’m not working, you can find me enjoying a few of my favorite things:
Thrill-seeking at theme parks (I love a good roller coaster!).
Snuggling up with my dog Elena.
Binge-watching shows and animation films—I’m a sucker for great storytelling.
Spending quality time with my family, whether we’re exploring new places or just relaxing at home.
I'm also a second-generation Filipino-American.
